At first glance, it looks like a map of any major city subway. But no: this is the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Metro MapA creative and highly visual way to show how different objectives connect with each other, with intersecting lines, interchange stations, and even "service points" where various themes converge.

What's interesting is that this map not only reflects positive synergies, it also points to the tensions that arise when one objective is pursued without considering the impact on others.
Some examples of the route
🚆 SDG7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) connect with SDG13 (Climate Action) and SDG8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth)The energy transition, in addition to mitigating climate change, can generate employment and economic development.
🚆 SDG1 (End of poverty) benefits from clean energy initiatives, which reduce costs and create new revenue opportunities.
🚆 SDG8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) intersects with SDG12 (Responsible production and consumption): Producing sustainably drives quality jobs and allows for growth without compromising the planet.
🚆 And an important reminder: when the principles of SDG12, the consequences fall on other objectives, such as SDG14 (Life below water)The lack of responsible management in production and consumption directly impacts the health of the oceans, the final destination for much of our waste.
What the map also warns us about
Expanding industrial or economic activity (SDG8, SDG9) without integrating sustainability criteria can jeopardize progress on other goals. As with any transportation network, a poorly planned detour can impact the entire system.
Key stations
There are issues that function as transfer stations: gender equality, climate action, and reducing inequalities are fundamental intersections for moving forward in multiple directions.
The Metro Map reminds us of something essential: the SDGs don't advance in isolation. When one goal advances, it can drive many others. But real change happens when we understand the entire network and design solutions in an integrated way.
